The Party Slogan - Everything/Nothing

The Party Slogan are a five piece indie band from Edinburgh, they are Calum (vocals/guitar/keyboard/percussion), Jamie (vocals/guitar), Robbie (lead guitar/backing vocals), Cameron (bass/synths) and Ally (drums).

They formed in 2016 over a shared love of bands emerging from the post-punk era and combining that love with some electronic/pop influences, they create a sound reminiscent of The Cure, The Fall and New Order.

The band went through numerous line-ups before settling on its current state where they have recorded a number of singles and a full length EP, Reasonably Good Indie Music (a title which completely sells short how good the EP is).

The Party Slogan release their latest single Everything/Nothing today, Friday 29 May 2020 and it’s a fabulous piece of indie rock, I love the construction of the track kicking off with synth and drums, before guitars come in to provide the catchy hook that drives the song.

It’s got a good vibe it makes you want to get on your feet and jump around and it has some great lyrics, really loved the opening lines “I was happy for a while so weightless I could fly but it was dangerous you see cos in my pleasure I can’t see, in my face I put across well it puts me at a loss so I’m happy in there eyes cos there’s all the surprise” and the chorus is a certain singalong “thinking about the future, about everything and nothing, everything and nothing”.

Everything/Nothing is a great track, loved the melodies and the vocals and is a great addition to the catalogue of songs that they have released, it’s another reason why I need to ensure that I see them live as soon as possible.
