Misty Galactic - Lucifer

Misty Galactic is the pseudonym of Dundee/Edinburgh singer songwriter Sophie Craik.

Part sixties siren, part space princess, Misty Galactic sings wistful, dark, and melancholy dream pop indie songs.

Misty Galactic’s latest release, Lucifer, is a celebration of bad boys in all their devilish glory, Lucifer is an ode to those with dark thoughts and mischievous smiles.

It follows the success of early 2020 release Issues, which saw inclusion in the Scottish Alternative Music Awards January roundup, as well as reviews in Reignland and Discover Nu, and several playlist placements including Scots Whay Hae!.

Lucifer is deeply personal to Misty, who has often wondered if some of her exes were the literal devil. Speaking on the inspiration behind the song, Misty said:

In my life I’ve found myself being drawn to troubled people, people who can be dangerous and manipulative, but are so charming you don’t even mind. I wanted to write something that explored that, and make something beautiful out of it.

Lucifer was released today, 9 April 2020 and it is a hauntingly beautiful piece of dark pop.

The song has an alluring structure, ethereal guitar and a pulsing drum beat perpetuate throughout the song, accompanied by Misty’s spellbinding vocal make this a delight on your ears.

Lyrically this is a portrayal of being attracted to the proverbial bad boy summed up with the final line of “you and me and the devil makes three” suggesting that perhaps the aforementioned bad boy is indeed Lucifer himself.

I adore this song, it is a well constructed dark dreamy pop song and should enhance the growing reputation of Misty. I for one cannot wait for this lockdown to end so I can go see her deliver her beguiling tunes live.
