Vukovi - Fall Better

Release Date - 24 January 2020

Vukovi have changed their line up since their self-titled debut album of 2017. They are trimmed down to Janine Shilstone and Hamish Reilly for the release of Fall Better.

Would this make a difference to the style of the new album, not in my opinion as it carries on where the debut left off and should be received with as much acclaim as it’s predecessor.

The spoken word intro of the opening track 17359 quotes “the content you have selected contains strong language, dark themes, and some dirty fucking riffs” is a great description of what to expect from Fall Better.

Violent Minds sets the tone of the album showing Shilstone’s strong vocals combined with the recognisable synths and hooks you would expect.

Aura and C.L.A.U.D.I.A are softer with a more pop rock feel, with strong melodies on both and a very singalong chorus on the latter.

Behave displays a strong riff and played at a pace again to complement the strong vocals.

Play With Me is a good tune and has a more metal feel to it than the tunes so far.

Verify Your Worth is back to what you expect with synth driven beats to keep the song bouncing along.

All That Candy is a bit different with swirling synths and layered vocals and is probably my favourite track on the album although is run close by the final track Run/Hide which is a fast ferocious track which will be a highlight of their live set.

Where Are You is one of the most emotional songs on the album and could be described as a ballad Vukovi style !

I’m Sorry and White Lies could be the polar images of each other and help slow the pace down before the crunching end of the aforementioned Run/Hide.

An enjoyable album which will retain existing fans and help them gain more to boot.
